Black Panther experienced overwhelming success when it release earlier this year. Not only did the movie rake in more than $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, it was also showered in positive reviews by both fans and critics. Now with another Black Panther movie on the way, director Ryan Coogler says that he isn’t letting the pressure of delivering a great sequel faze him.

Speaking in an interview with Indie Wire, Coogler was asked about the pressure that he’s experience as the director in charge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther 2. There’s certainly a lot of expectation to have a successful sequel after the results of the first Black Panther movie. With the bar raised high, Coogler promises that he and his team are trying their very best to deliver another great all-black movie.

“When it comes to making a sequel, I’ve never done it before, a sequel to something that I’ve directed myself,” the filmmaker explained. “So I think there’s gonna be a lot of pressure there, but what we’re going to try to do is just focus on the work, like we always do. Really try to go step by step and try to quiet everything else around us, really focus on trying to make something that has some type of meaning.”

Luckily, Marvel is giving the filmmaker and his creative team some time to work on Black Panther 2. Expectations are high after knowing what Coogler is capable of, and Marvel has decided to give the director the space he needs to get the creative juices flowing. Right now, Black Panther 2 doesn’t have a release date, but of course fans are going to see Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa again in Avengers 4 which premieres on May 3, 2019.
