Puss is Back in Latest Trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

We hadn’t gotten an update on the Shrek franchise since Puss in Boots came out back in 2011, but now DreamWorks is ready to bring the ex-ogre-slayer back for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The movie is set to come out this Christmas, and we have a new trailer that gives us a look at all the new incoming characters.

Check out the new Puss in Boots trailer down here:

The official synopsis reads:

Academy Award® nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws (Oscar® nominee Salma Hayek).

In their quest, Puss and Kitty will be aided—against their better judgment—by a ratty, chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt, Perro (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows). Together, our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldilocks (Oscar® nominee Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner (Emmy winner John Mulaney, Big Mouth) and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos).

Though Shrek is nowhere to be found in the films, the film does have a lot of elements that are trademark to the Shrek franchise. Besides the appearance of Puss, we’re also getting a lot of other fairytale characters that have been given their own special twist. I guess you can also say that the film is adapting a new, more cartoonish look that’s akin to that of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

I can’t wait to see this hit theaters.

Catch Puss in Boots: The Last Wish when it comes to cinemas on Dec. 21.
