Pixar’s Onward Coming to Disney+ on April

Disney Pixar’s Onward came out right at the time of the lockdowns and quarantines, so you can imagine the film isn’t earning as much as it hoped. To remedy this, Disney is speeding up its digital release in order to get more people to watch the film.

According to CNBC, Onward is going to be available to buy digitally tonight for $19.99. If you don’t feel like owning the movie though, it will be coming to Disney+ on April 3 in the US. Director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae had this to say about Onward’s early home release:

“While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.”

For now, the movie industry is relying on digital more than ever. Besides Onward, Universal Studios had decided to take films that were currently in theaters, like The Invisible Man and The Hunt, and make them available on digital. While this does open up the door to piracy, I guess it’s a good way to keep everyone entertained as they stay in for quarantine.

Optimistically, everyone is hoping everything will go back to normal come June, but we should all be prepared for the worst. In the meantime, wash your hands, keep social distancing, and if you do have to go out for supplies, make sure not to hoard anything.  Check out Onward on Disney+ this April.
