We’ve known for a while who’s playing who in the upcoming Batman film, but there are still some actors who have undisclosed roles. With production having officially started, WB has revealed who Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson are playing in the film.
As per WB’s official press release Sarsgaard is revealed to be playing Gotham District Attorney Gil Colson with Lawson having been cast as Bella Real, a mayoral candidate for Gotham. No further details have been revealed about the characters, but I imagine both will play some kind of significant part to the overall plot.
While some may be bummed that Sarsgaard isn’t playing Harvey Dent, I think introducing him is kind of a foreshadowing of Dent’s arrival. Maybe this Colson character is corrupt and gets replaced by the end of the film? Maybe he becomes a victim of the Penguin at some point in the movie. Either way, there’s one lawyer in Gotham that everyone knows, and that’s Harvey.

Though I am excited to see what Robert Pattinson has to bring to the character, I’m kind of bummed that he’s working on his own continuity outside of the main DCEU. I guess the upside is there’s room for Ben Affleck to return as Batman, and with the Flash film possibly introducing a multiverse, maybe we can have two Batmen exist at the same time when it comes to the box office.
