While fans are slowly easing up to watching Solo: A Star Wars Story, a huge chunk of them has been clamoring for an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff film. Now rumor has it that the movie already has a plot and director.
TMZ just recently got hands on a production bulletin. According to the publication, the film will follow Obi-Wan’s life before Star Wars: A New Hope. Staying in hiding, Obi-Wan secretly watches over Luke Skywalker as the infant grows into adulthood. However, tension between a tribe of Sand People and local farmers eventually forces Obi-Wan out of hiding.
There were rumors before that Stephen Daldry (The Hours, Billy Elliot) was in talks to direct. Now his name has popped up again as the actual director of Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story.
While the new reports definitely sound exciting, Lucasfilm still hasn’t contacted Ewan McGregor for the role.
McGregor also said that he hasn’t heard from Lucasfilm about reprising the role earlier this year. He is very open to playing Obi-Wan again, and he even voiced a cameo role in The Force Awakens. Hopefully we get an official update before the year ends.
Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story has not been officially announced.
