While some may think that Avengers: Endgame is the end of MCU Phase 3, that honor will actually belong to Spider-Man: Far from Home which comes out in July. While marketing is waiting to push forward after everyone has seen Endgame, we have this new still of Peter Parker meeting Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio; plus we have some character descriptions from director Jon Watts.
Check this out:
Talking to EW, Watts describes Beck in comparison to Tony Stark’s relationship with Peter. Watts explains, “If Tony Stark was sort of the mentor in the previous films, we thought it would be interesting to play Mysterio as almost like the cool uncle.”
Anyone who’s familiar with the comics knows that Mysterio is a bad guy, and with the trailer making him out to be some kind of hero, I’m guessing he’s the man behind the so-called “Elementals” in the first place, and he’s been doing it for the fame and recognition.
If there’s anything we can take away from this photo other than Mysterio is on Spider-Man’s side, it’s also the fact that Mysterio now knows who Peter Parker is, and that could be dangerous when it comes to his loved ones. Adrian Toomes manages to keep his mouth shut about Peter’s identity in Homecoming. What’s stopping Beck?
For now, everyone is too hyped for the release of Endgame to worry about what happens in Far from Home. Rest assured, we’ll be getting our new trailer for the film out soon. After watching Endgame, it’s actually impressive this trailer didn’t manage to spoil anything.
Catch Spider-Man: Far from Home in theaters July 2.
