One of the most beloved characters to come out of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, and a lot of people thought his character was thrown under the bus with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. What’s interesting though, is that word is coming out that Disney/Lucasfilm wants to develop more of Ben Solo moving forward.
According to Kessel Run Transmissions’ Corey Van Dyke, a Ben Solo project is in early development at Lucasfilm. He posts:
We’ve heard Ben Solo is a character Lucasfilm wants to further develop. We don’t know if this is a series or movie, but it’s definitely being worked on. We also don’t know if this is pre TFA or post TROS, but if I were to guess I’d say pre TFA. Again, this is in early development. pic.twitter.com/XP5ALD7yVG

Seeing that Ben Solo is dead, it would make sense for Disney to try and tell another prequel story which follows Ben’s fall and rise of Kylo Ren. Then again, with everyone already having seen that with Anakin, it would probably be more interesting to see just what happens to Ben Solo when he disappeared in TROS. Could he have entered the World between Worlds? Maybe this can plant seeds for us to see the return of the ST crew?
If anything, I think Adam Driver (like the rest of the cast) has already put Star Wars behind them, and seeing as how stressful the fandom can get, I can imagine they wouldn’t want to come back to the franchise any time soon. With Kylo being one of the big fan-favorites though, I would imagine Disney would want to do something with the character with or without Driver’s involvement.
Then again, that’s just my speculation.
For now, Star Wars is taking a hiatus from the box office and focusing on television. The second season of The Mandalorian is expected to debut on Disney+ this October.
