After Power Rangers and Aquaman, Ludi Lin is set to star as Liu Kang in the upcoming Mortal Kombat film. The movie is currently undergoing production, and Lin has shared this BTS video of him doing some classic MK sweeps.

Check him out:

Lin is only one of a very impressive cast that the film has brought together. Besides his Liu Kang, the movie has also cast Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), Jax (Mehcad Brooks), Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), Shang Tsung (Chin Han), Kano (Josh Lawson), Mileena (Sisi Stringer), and Kung Lao (Max Huang).

The only cast member whose character hasn’t been officially announced is Lewis Tan. Personally, I think that Tan has been cast as Johnny Cage, and the production is afraid of a backlash from fans, seeing that Cage is a white character. If anything, Tan looks the part, but it’s still a possibility that he could be playing someone else. Then again, why bother going through all this secrecy?

With Mortal Kombat being a silly franchise from the get-go, I’m hoping that this film just kind of embraces that, rather than attempt a serious plot. I mean, it’s a franchise known for over the top violence and fighting. Give us that and some jokes here and there, and you have a Mortal Kombat movie that stays true to the spirit of the game.

Never mind if the lore fanatics will hate it; those are the same camp of people who hated The Last Jedi and that movie is fantastic no matter how you put it.

Mortal Kombat is set for a release on March 5, 2021.
