Good Burger started out as a fun recurring skit on Nickelodeon’s All That, and in 1997, it spawned a cult movie which actually made bank at the box office with its $8 million-dollar budget. It’s been 25 years since the release of the film, but Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have confirmed they will be coming back for a sequel.
They announced on The Tonight Show that Good Burger Part 2 is going to start filming this summer, and should be coming out soon. Watch this:
Though Mitchell was the only original cast member who was working on the Good Burger skits, the movie has brought in Thompson to co-star, what with the two having their own hit Nickelodeon show called Kenan & Kel.
Here’s the sequel synopsis as per Variety:
“Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”
Besides the duo coming back, I’m hoping we get to see some great guest stars return for the show. A lot of people probably want Linda Cardellini to come back and reprise her psychopath character, but I would love it if they have Kevin Smith cameo in some way, since Good Burger is basically just a kids’ version of Smith’s Clerks movies.
No release date has been announced for the Good Burger sequel, but hopefully the movie releases sometime in 2024.
