Jordan Peele’s Candyman Gets a Creepy New Teaser

I’ll admit, I wasn’t really that excited about the Candyman reboot after the first teaser, but after watching the shadow play clip with the puppets, I was all on-board for Nia DoCosta’s take on the film. What’s great is, we have a new short teaser for the movie, and it seems to be more relevant than ever.

Check out the new teaser for Candyman:

We get some of the clips from the short that DaCosta released, but this time we also have Candyman  clips alluding to police brutality (plus some new puppet snippets as well). With the whole country at an uproar when it comes to the case of #BlackLivesMatter, it’s going to be very interesting to see how DaCosta plans to address it with a horror movie.

I have to say, Jordan Peele has really started a trend when it comes to these socially relevant horror films. After Get Out and Us, it looks like Candyman is going to be another take on the real-life horrors we all still face today, especially black people. You bet I’m going to be in line when Candyman comes out in September.

In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, Anthony and his girlfriend move into a loft in the now gentrified Cabrini. A chance encounter with an old-timer exposes Anthony to the true story behind Candyman. Anxious to use these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, he unknowingly opens a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifying wave of violence.

Candyman was originally set to come out this month, but it now sits on a release date of Sept. 25.
