Shazam! may be coming out by the end of the week, but the DCEU has decided it’s time to give us our first look at Todd Philipps’ Joker movie. The first poster for the film has just been revealed by Phillips himself, and he also confirms that we’ll be getting our first preview tomorrow.
Interestingly enough, the poster gives us a look for the Joker that hasn’t been seen in previously leaked images online. While we thought we got the final look for Joaquin Phoenix in set photos, the image in this poster seems to look different—mostly in the sense that there’s a black outline around the Joker’s red “smile”. Besides that, we’ve already seen the blue make-up around the eyes as well as the red eyebrows.
Is this the final look, or just a Joker in transition? Hopefully we get some king of clue when the teaser comes out tomorrow.
While the DCEU seems to be slowly edging toward the MCU formula of lighthearted films, Joker manages to be one of the more experimental movies in the franchise. This film is considered to be its own standalone story and will not be connected to any other movie that’s been presented in the DCEU. While we’ve gotten a lot of focus on Batman in previous films, it’s going to be interesting to finally see the Clown Prince of Crime in the spotlight for once.
Catch Joker in theaters Oct. 4.
