Despite WB not having any immediate plans for Superman, Henry Cavill has confirmed that the role is still pretty much his; and he wants to work on the character again soon. With his schedule now filling up with his work on Netflix’s The Witcher, he gives some hope that his Man of Steel could return despite this.
Talking to RadioTimes, Cavill explains, “You’ve got to keep in mind that regardless of what movies I’ll be doing over the next few years, you can fit two projects into one year.” If anything, Cavill is asking his fans to keep up hope that he’ll eventually return as the Last Son of Krypton.
For now, it seems that Cavill has landed a role for the next icon in pop culture, Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series. He talks about pursuing the role before production began and said, “This is very much my kind of thing, and a dream job to have,” he said. “I ended up falling in love with the books after the games, and after I had my first conversation with [showrunner] Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.”
What I love about Cavill is that he’s also kind of a nerd despite being the face behind characters like Superman and Geralt. He even said that he almost missed the call from Zack Snyder when he landed Man of Steel because he was too busy playing World of Warcraft.
Though we don’t know when Superman will grace screens again, we’re sure to catch Cavill in Netflix’s The Witcher which premieres on Dec. 20.
