Besides Shazam!, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros is already working to pump out the all-woman DCEU team-up film, Birds of Prey. Now we have an update on who will end up in the final roster along with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
As per The Wrap, the Birds of Prey team-up include Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and GCPD Detective Renee Montoya.
Some may be bummed out that Batgirl isn’t part of that roster, but Cassandra Cain is actually the fourth iteration of Batgirl in the comics; plus, an appearance from Barbara Gordon in the movie has not been ruled out. Perhaps the movie will introduce us to Barbara and plant the seeds to her becoming Batgirl in the solo movie.
Besides the girls, we also have an update on the movie’s villain who is said to be of Batman’s rogues gallery. It wasn’t too long ago that Josh Gad was campaigning for the role of the Penguin, but I wouldn’t mind the girls facing someone more obscure. I think The Ventriloquist would be a fantastic villain who should be brought to screen for once. It’s also been a while since we’ve seen a better version of Mr. Freeze.
Birds of Prey is currently aiming for a production start in January of next year, and with that we could assume that the release is sometime around 2020.
No specific release date has been set for Birds of Prey.
