It may be a while before we get to see the full trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but StarWars.com has given us a look at these new ‘Sith Troopers’ ahead of SDCC 2019. Check out the different figures for Hasbro’s Black Series as well as Hot Toys:
From the get-go, it’s kind of curious on where the troopers really stand. With Kylo Ren saying that they should let the Sith die in The Last Jedi, it wouldn’t make sense that he would have a bunch of new troopers named after them.
The guess is that these troopers will be in line with the returning Emperor Palpatine. We don’t really know in what form he comes back, but it would make sense that he would have his own army apart from the First Order. It’s also a tell that these troopers are associated with a new insignia that doesn’t look at all like the FO’s.
Star Wars Battlefront II had confirmed that Palpatine had a contingency plan at the moment of his death which helped spawn the First Order. What are the odds that he had a plan B where he commissioned another clone army that took 30 years to grow; and now they’re ready to join the fray with The Rise of Skywalker.
How crazy would it be if they were all clones of Anakin Skywalker with the Emperor aiming for these troopers to all be Force-sensitive? That would make the Sith troopers an army of Darth Vaders, and I think that would be interesting.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out Dec. 20.
