Solo: A Star Wars Story may have underperformed at the box office, but there is a vigorous #MakeSolo2Happen campaign online which is trying to get Lucasfilm to greenlight the sequel. We don’t have any official updates on the film, but Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo is kind of teasing something about his ‘next movie’ which may very well be Solo 2.
This was his reply to an IMDb post on Twitter asking followers about some unexpected movie moments. Check out what Suotamo said:
With Suotamo already wrapping on The Rise of Skywalker, I’m automatically thinking that his ‘next movie’ means his project after TROS. With his filmography basically just playing Chewbacca for the new Star Wars movies, I’m betting his next appearance would be in a Solo sequel—if there’s a Solo sequel.
Then again, maybe it’s a surprise for Suotamo in a sense that he’s being hired to play a character that isn’t Chewie. Until he decides to give us some more info, all we can really do is guess.
So far, there has been a lot of positive buzz when it comes to Solo 2. We know that writer Jon Kasdan is totally down for a sequel happening, and director Ron Howard has expressed his gratitude for the support of the movie. Surely Lucasfilm isn’t blind when it comes to the online campaigns. Heck, I would be pleased if Solo 2 just ended up a series on Disney+, then again, I’d still prefer the spectacle of a theatrically released film.
For now, catch Suotamo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which comes out Dec. 20.
