President Donald Trump had come up with an idea to add a sixth branch of the military that would focus on space, and the idea was ludicrous enough that The Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Steve Carell decided to write a show around it. What’s great is, we now have our first stills of Netflix’s Space Force.
Check it out:
FIRST LOOK: Steve Carell is the head of Space Force, the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces.

Carell has been cast as Mark R. Naird, who is an air force pilot who has been tasked to head the military’s newest branch. Alongside Carell is a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yag, Ben Schwartz, and John Malkovich.
With the show set to come out in May, I’m hopeful that we’re going to get the trailer for Space Force soon. It’s still unknown what kind of format this comedy could take, but seeing that Daniels and Carell were best known for the mockumentary style of The Office, I think SF could apply the same aesthetic. Then again, I think a single camera comedy could still work, depending on whether Daniels doesn’t want to make himself seem redundant.
With The Office set to leave Netflix soon, it’s great that Daniels would come up with a new show like Space Force to fill the hole that’s going to be left. Let’s just hope that this manages to be the next big hit for the streaming service.
Catch Space Force when it premieres on Netflix May 29.
