With How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World now out of the way, the most anticipated animated movie of the year now falls on Toy Story 4. Disney Pixar has released a full trailer for the movie, and it gives us a great idea of what kind of story to expect.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Pixar has also dropped the official poster for the film, and you can see there are a few Easter Eggs in it as well. Here’s one: The dogs in the painting playing poker are the same dogs from Up, and you can even see Dug in the right along with Charles Muntz on the left:
While I thought Toy Story 3 had already capped of the franchise really well, it looks like this fourth movie is going to be asking a lot more questions about what it really means to be a toy. A lot of people had criticized that the last movie was setting up Woody and the gang for more disappointment once Bonnie grows up, but maybe this film will give us an alternative answer to what happens to toys when kids outgrow them.
Catch Toy Story 4 in theaters June 21.
