Disney is Considering a Live-Action Reboot of The Nightmare Before Christmas

Disney has been making huge bank with their live-action spinoffs; Aladdin is close to making a billion at the box office, and everyone is getting hyped for the release of The Lion King next month. Just in, Disney is actually considering a reboot of another cult classic film under their belt—The Nightmare Before Christmas.

According to MovieHole, a source had told them that Disney wants to “do something with Nightmare Before Christmas – probably a sequel but live-action possible” We don’t have any more details on that, but the site says that the source had been spot-on before.

For now, it doesn’t look like anything is set in stone yet. There has to be a reason why there hasn’t been a spinoff to Nightmare Before Christmas despite its cult status. If anything, they probably don’t know how to proceed with Jack’s story at all; and technically, the original movie is already live-action. I mean, claymation is live-action isn’t it?

If anything, the world of Jack Skellington is definitely an interesting one, but I can imagine the amount of backlash that would take place if Disney manages to screw up  this reboot. After all, The Nightmare Before Christmas is basically the Birth of a Nation for teen goth culture.

Disney has not officially announced a Nightmare Before Christmas remake yet, but just know the studio has it in the mind. For now, we wait for the release of The Lion King which hits theaters July 19.
