As promised, WB has finally dropped the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. Gal Gadot returns as Princess Diana, and we get an official look at Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), and… Steve Trevor (Chris Pine)?
We don’t have a full synopsis for the story yet, but the video comes with this short description:
Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah.
Probably the biggest mystery we have for the movie is the return of Steve Trevor. It’s been said that the Steve we get here is indeed the one Diana lost, and that’s why a lot were speculating that Pascal was actually playing Hades. If anything, I have a feeling some magical being is the cause of why Trevor is suddenly pulling a Captain America.
Besides the look of Diana in the 80s, we also get some shots of her back in Themyscira. Though I’m not expecting to come back to the 80s era of the Amazon island, it’s very likely we’ll be getting a flashback to Diana’s younger years. After all, Robin Wright is set to reprise the role of Antiope despite dying in the first film.
For now, the DCEU is gearing up for the return of one of the main trinity heroes. We don’t know when we’re getting a Superman movie again, but with Batman still coming out 2021, it’s nice to know we’re getting Wonder Woman back in June.
Catch Wonder Woman 1984 when it hits theaters June 5, 2020.
