Deadpool 3 Writers Think Movie Won’t Release Under Disney Banner

Deadpool 2 was a smash hit, and we were sure that a third movie was going to come until Disney went out and bought 20th Century Fox. While a third movie is definitely underway, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick believe it will still fall under the 20th Century banner.

Talking to ScreenRant, the pair was asked if an R-Rated Deadpool movie can come out under the Disney banner, to which Reese replied, “Absolutely, because I don’t think it’ll be under the Disney banner. Like, I don’t think when you go to Deadpool 3, there’s going to be a Magic Castle that appears. I think it’s going to be under the Fox banner, so yes.”

The position of Deadpool in the MCU has come out to be very tricky since we know that the franchise should only be Rated-R, but at the same time, Disney is making sure that the Marvel films are still kid-friendly. Some people thought a good compromise was to have the R-Rated solo films come out under the 20th Century banner, and have Deadpool act PG-13 when he guest stars in the MCU.

Again, it’s just a thought, but Marvel better do something about their more adult characters soon because I’m sure the fans won’t be appeased with just PG-13 material coming out. Maybe they can have them release on Hulu like the adult-oriented MODOK series. Then again, I’m always open to having some kind of “Adult Swim” portion for Disney+.

We don’t know when the next Deadpool movie comes out, but Black Widow hits theaters May 1.
