Black Widow: Iron Maiden Easter Egg Spotted in Final Trailer

Though No Time to Die has bowed down to the Coronavirus, it looks like Marvel Studios is sticking to their guns with Black Widow’s May release date. They’ve just dropped a new trailer, and it actually features a reference to the comics’ Iron Maiden.

Check it out:

Though Rachel Weisz is marketed as an ally, a lot of people are convinced that she’s the main villain of the film. Some are guessing that she’s actually the one behind Taskmaster’s mask, but now I’m kind of convinced that the movie will pull an Incredibles 2 and reveal that Taskmaster is just a mind-controlled guy who is working on the whims of Weisz’s Melina.

Then again, I’m hoping that Marvel manages to subvert expectations. Though I thought Endgame was great, I didn’t really care for the past films like Captain Marvel or the Ant-Man sequel. With Black Widow’s movie long overdue, I’m hoping that Marvel has plans to mix up the formula and give us something a bit more memorable.

After Spider-Man: Far from Home, people are wondering what to expect with Marvel Phase 4. Admittedly we don’t have that much ‘main’ heroes to look forward to, but fingers crossed that Kevin Feige and his team have a plan to gradually build-up to another Endgame-level event.

At birth, the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanov) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.

Catch Black Widow when it hits theaters in May 1.
