Marvel is yet to give us a look at Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but news has it that the film will be introducing us to Namor the Submariner in the form of actor Tenoch Huerta. Seeing as Aquaman is already a box office figure, Marvel has allegedly made some changes to the universe’s ‘first mutant.’

We don’t know how legitimate the leak is, but it definitely makes sense for Marvel to try and make the character as different from Aquaman as possible. With DC forgoing the Captain Marvel mantle in the Shazam! film, it looks like its Marvel’s turn to rewrite something out of their lore thanks to an established DC character (even if Namor came out earlier in the comics, compared to Aquaman).
Though you can imagine a lot of whining from the fanbase, I think it can ultimately work depending on execution. A lot of fans complained when they changed Ultron’s origin so that he was created by Tony Stark instead of Hank Pym; but it all worked out in the end. They even changed Kamala Khan’s powers for Ms. Marvel, but I guess the jury’s still out on that one.
No update has been set on when we’re going to get our first teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but I’m sure we’re going to get something along with the release of Thor 4 in July.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit theaters on Nov. 11.
