Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey is currently undergoing production and a lot of set photos have been coming out online of Margot Robbie and the rest of the cast. The latest batch of photos have Harley Quinn possible having been kicked out by the Joker, plus we also have photos of her hanging out with Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco).

With the Mad Love-based project having been cancelled, it looks like they’re bringing some elements of that story into this film. In the comic, Harley is kicked out by the Joker, which forces her to try and win her back by killing the Batman. While it doesn’t seem that Harley will be trying to get the Batman in this movie, it just looks like she’ll have a falling out with the Joker.
Now I’m curious if Jared Leto is going to reprise the role for this movie.

As for these photos with Harley hanging out with Cassandra Cain, I think the movie is going to establish a rapport between the two before Cain is kidnapped. It’s kind of like Deadpool 2 where Deadpool feels a responsibility toward Russell after they bond together in the Ice Box.
We don’t really know why Cain is important to the Black Mask, but my guess is she’s connected to some kind of rival gang. I would say a ninja group, but when have ninjas made anything better nowadays? (looking at you, Daredevil).
