After 11 years, Marvel Studios has made bank adapting comic stories for the big screen with the MCU. We’ve already gotten big events like Civil War and The Infinity Gauntlet, but one other story that fans want to see is House of M. As per Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, a HOM film could happen, but the MCU will have to earn it.
Talking to the Hollywood Reporter, McFeely expresses his interest in making a House of M film, but he also says, “I think House of M would be awesome. But you’ve got to earn it.”
Just in case you didn’t know, House of M is a storyline where Scarlett Witch alters reality in a grand scale and makes it so that every character gets what they want. The biggest change in the status quo is the mutants becoming the dominant race in society, but it also affects all the other heroes: Spider-Man becomes a famous actor married to Gwen Stacy, Wolverine and his mutant team become the runners of SHIELD, Captain America is never frozen and becomes an old man, and Magneto becomes the leader of the country.
With Wanda’s powers in the films being demoted to just moving stuff with her mind, I’m hoping that the Disney+ series WandaVision gives us a look at how she can warp reality. Maybe she could just start with trying to bring Vision back to life, but I would love it if they just slowly build up to a whole alternate reality in a big scale movie—maybe even an Avengers film. While I think it would be optimal to have mutants onboard, I think they can still pull it off with the characters we already have.
For now, just catch Avengers: Endgame in theaters today.
