Ahsoka Mandalorian Debut Allegedly Leading to Spinoff Series

While it may sound too good to be true, Rosario Dawson has been cast as the live-action counterpart of fan favorite Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian 2. While people are just happy to see more of Ahsoka, rumor has it that this appearance could actually lead to a spinoff show.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, “There are rumors” suggesting that Ahsoka’s appearance in Mando will serve as a ‘backdoor pilot’ for an Ahsoka series. While we don’t have any official confirmation, that sounds plausible when you think about it. Ahsoka is one of the most beloved characters in the franchise, and there’s a lot of space between Clone Wars and Rebels where we could delve into Ahsoka’s story.

Then again, some think that this could be the case of some misinformation. News has it that an animated series that will serve as a sequel to Rebels will be coming out later this year, and it will feature Ahsoka heavily. While I’m not expecting Dawson to takeover voiceover duties, I’d love to see her handle her own with a series. I mean, she’s played second fiddle to the Marvel Netflix heroes as Claire Temple, so it would be cool to have her be in the spotlight this time around.

I mean, she has Kevin Smith’s approval at least:

For now, productions everywhere have halted due to the Coronavirus, but The Mandalorian has already wrapped. Either Dawson has already shot her scenes, or maybe her Ahsoka makes a debut somewhere near the end. Either way, I’m excited.

Catch The Mandalorian 2 when it debuts this October.
