WB Pushing Forward with Productions

The last week was filled with cancellations of productions due to Coronavirus from Stranger Things to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and while Disney is looking to keep their workers from gathering, it looks like WB is pushing through.

According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, production is still expected to continue for films like Batman, Matrix, and the third Fantastic Beasts film. Here’s the post:

As for WB, they have released this statement when new broke out that Tom Hanks had contracted the COVID-19 virus (via Deadline):

“The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.”

With entire countries being very strict about the lockdown, I can’t help but feel that it’s only a matter of time before WB changes their minds. After all, I think it’s very irresponsible to have people continue to go out and work right now with the outbreak going on. Then again, they do stand to lose a lot of money with productions getting cancelled. Maybe these scenes that are pushing through only need a minimal amount of crew on set? I’m just trying to extend an olive branch here, but I’m sure even Disney can’t stand to just hold everything while they wait for the virus to blow over.

Maybe at best they can provide testing kits for COVID-19? But I’m sure it can probably be more complicated than just sending some kits over.

For now, WB has not announced any cancellations or delays of upcoming film releases.
