The Turtles have a Mission in New Clip from TMNT: Mutant Mayhem

Barbie isn’t the only toy movie we’re getting in a couple of weeks. By August, Paramount will also be releasing their animated reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from Seth Rogen. We just got a new clip from the film, and it gives us a good idea of the chemistry behind this iteration of Turtle Boys.

Check the new trailer out here:

The clip gives us a very good idea of the aesthetic of the movie. Besides the comic book look that looks a lot like the Spider-Verse films, we also have some stylized scenes that show us just how playful the storytelling is going to be for this new brand of Heroes in a Half Shell.

Despite the new look, it seems that the core elements of the Turtles are still being kept, what with Leo being the leader, Mikey just looking to have fun, Raph being the ‘tough’ one, and Donny being the smart one; then again, it does look like they’ve changed the age of the Turtles, particularly with Donatello. Though Mikey is usually the young one, it does seem like they made Donny the youngest, maybe to challenge his smarts—anyone barely thinks your capable if you’re the youngest.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to release in theaters on Aug. 2.
