With the silly haircut and flowery shirt, a lot of people think that the movie is going to go “full cheese” when it comes to this character. I mean, we’ve had a lot of villains capable of mass destruction before, but there’s something different about an actual serial killer being the main antagonist.
We don’t know how Andy Serkis plans to approach this material, but I’m hoping he takes it a bit more seriously. I mean, Venom was a big step back for superhero films. I’d at least love Venom 2 more if it was a bit more sincere with its execution.
While the MCU didn’t want connections with the first Venom, it looks like the link is going to be present moving forward. Let’s just hope that Sony manages to up the ante when it comes to their movies, because I’m sure the connection to Venom was scrapped because Disney didn’t think the movie was that good.
Catch Venom 2 when it comes out Oct. 2. If you want an earlier return to the Spider-Verse, Morbius releases on July 31.
