The Mandalorian 3 has Already Begun Development

Disney+’s The Mandalorian was lucky enough to wrap production before the COVID-19 lockdown, and it looks like the second season is going to come out on schedule this October. What’s interesting is, work has already begun on the third season.

According to Variety, a source close to the production has confirmed that development is underway for the third season of The Mandalorian. The source says, “We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3.” Jon Favreau is said to have been writing the third season for a while, and Lucasfilm’s Doug Chiang has already started working on concept art for the third season over the past few weeks.

This is certainly good news for the show. While the movies may be on hiatus for now, Star Wars seems to be thriving on the TV end, what with Mando and Clone Wars. I’m just hoping they don’t over-exert themselves with the Cassian Andor series and Obi-Wan show though. At some point, I still want those anthology films to hit theaters. I’m sure people would be lining up for an Obi-Wan movie rather than a Disney+  series.

For now, everyone is waiting for the second season of The Mandalorian. We don’t really know where the season will go, but hopefully we get an explanation of what Moff Gideon wants to do with Baby Yoda. Fingers crossed we get more faces from the expanded universe like Dash Rendar or maybe Boba Fett finally.

The Mandalorian 2 is set to hit Disney+ this October.
