The game has been undergoing its final marketing push, with the release of all these reviews, but PlayStation has now given us their final trailer for the game. Check this out:

The Unknown Journey Continues…

After escaping from the mako powered city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends have broken the shackles of fate and set out on a journey into untracked wastelands. New adventures await in a vast and multifaceted world, sprinting across grassy plains on a Chocobo and exploring expansive environments.

The story pretty much picks up where Remake left off, with Cloud and friends off to the desert to have all new kinds of adventures. We should expect to meet some more familiar characters from the FFVII lore, and then some.

One of the biggest hooks of this Remake franchise is that it will likely tell a different story from the one that was told in the original FFVII—which prominently features the death of one of the game’s main waifus. But even if the story could change, is the game really going to allow players to rewrite the timeline?

This is just the second game in a planned trilogy, so we don’t know where they plan to end things with this one; but I am eager to see Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and the rest go through some new adventures with some familiar faces along the way.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches for the PlayStation 5 on Feb. 29.

New Promo of Aerith from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Teases Major Character Death https://www.geekfeed.com/aerith-ffvii-promo-teases-a-major-character-death/ Sun, 11 Feb 2024 11:28:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80957 It was in the middle of 2020 when Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII Remake, and it took a while for fans to realize that they were taking the original story and expanding it into three games. Now fans are gearing up for the release of the second game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and we have a promo photo announcing the launch of the demo for PS5.

Check this out:

Fans of the original game will immediately recognize the image as it’s pretty much the same pose and location that Aerith was in before she gets shanked by Sephiroth. Her death was also pretty much teased in Remake.

What’s interesting is, though everyone is expecting Aerith to die in the trilogy at some point, some are suggesting that the Remake title of the game could mean that Square Enix is going to try and retell the story in a way that Aerith could make it out alive; but I imagine someone else would have to die in order to pay that price.

I’ll admit, alternate timelines and multiverses are starting to feel pretty stale now, but as long as Square is able to deliver a great subversion of the story which new fans can also enjoy, I’m willing to see where this trilogy is going as it moves forward.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to release for the PlayStation 5 this Feb. 29. The free demo is now available for PS5.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Gets 2024 Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-gets-2024-release-date/ Mon, 18 Sep 2023 10:06:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78772 Square Enix fans were hoping that the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake would come out this year, but as it turns out, they’ll have to wait until early 2024.

Just in, a new trailer has been dropped for the game and it confirms the release for Feb. 29, 2024. Watch this:

The official description reads:

The Unknown Journey Continues…

After escaping from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey across the planet. New adventures await in a vibrant and vast world – sprint across grassy plains on a Chocobo and explore expansive environments.

Though the original FFVII may have closed Cloud’s arc in one game, Square Enix is planning an entire trilogy which was kickstared by Remake. What’s more, they are promising a whole twist to the story, which is why some believe that some characters who famously died in the original game have a chance of surviving in the sequel.

Plus, we see a change in some character relationships when it comes to this new timeline. Sephiroth is famously Cloud’s rival in the original game, but it looks like players will also be able to control him as part of Cloud’s party in Rebirth. What’s more, we also have some more characters that didn’t manage to make it to the first game.

With FFVII being touted as one of the most beloved games in the franchise, it’s great that Square has found a way to update the story and give newcomers a chance to discover the world of Midgar through Cloud’s eyes.

Watch out for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth when it launches for the PS5 on Feb. 29, 2024.

The Last of Us Part I Remake Officially Announced https://www.geekfeed.com/__trashed-2/ Fri, 10 Jun 2022 08:43:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65600 We’ve heard rumblings of a Last of Us Part I remake for a while, and thanks to Summer Game Fest, Naughty Dog has officially announced the top-to-bottom remake of Ellie and Joel’s first outing together.

Watch the announcement trailer down here:

Winner of over 200 Game of The Year Awards, completely rebuilt for the PlayStation®5 console.

Revisit the game that set a new bar for single-player narrative storytelling with The Last of Us™ and explore a ravaged and hardened world, where every action has a brutal consequence for Joel and Ellie.

While The Last of Us was already pretty impressive on its own (and we did get a remastered version), there is a clear difference when it comes to the quality of the visuals. Just take a look at this comparison video from IGN:

With the HBO show incoming and the promise that the game is coming to PC, we should expect many more people to get familiar with the story of The Last of Us, which is probably one of the more memorable takes on the zombie/shooter genre. Not only do they have some interesting lore surrounding the clickers, but they’ve also masterfully written an impressively emotional story that just gets more brutal as it goes along.

While fans suspected that the game was set to come out early net year, The Last of Us Part I comes to PS5 on Sept. 2. No release date has been set for the PC port, but we are assured that it’s in development.

Check Out the Technical Upgrades of the Dead Space Remake https://www.geekfeed.com/check-out-the-technical-upgrades-of-the-dead-space-remake/ Thu, 02 Sep 2021 07:31:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61275 It’s been more than a decade since the release of the original Dead Space, and though the game is considered to be a touchstone when it comes to the survival-horror genre, EA Motive had announced back in July that they would be working on a full remake. Motive actually held a livestream giving us a look at the improvements of the game, and boy have they updated the overall atmosphere of the USG Ishimura.

Watch the video featuring the development of the game down here:

Here’s the official description:

Motive Studio invites you to have a very early look at the development of the Dead Space remake in this early development prototype livestream, featuring developers Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola as well as community content creators Kahlief Adams and Jackie Butler.

Despite the extensive rework, the game still took some elements from the original Dead Space like the layout of the ship. What they have added is some modern aesthetic touches like fog and reflective surfaces, and you can already feel just how different the remake is from the original—they even have a new suit for protagonist Isaac Clarke.

The sci-fi survival horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios to offer a deeper and more immersive experience. Harnessing the power of the Frostbite game engine and next generation consoles, this remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity and improvements to gameplay while staying true to the original.

No release date has been set for the Dead Space remake yet, but it is expected to make optimal use of the capabilities of new-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Sony Allegedly Wants to Remake The Last of Us Part 1 for the PS5 https://www.geekfeed.com/sony-allegedly-wants-to-remake-the-last-of-us-part-1-for-the-ps5/ Thu, 15 Apr 2021 06:23:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59107 2013’s The Last of Us is considered to be a genre-defining masterpiece, and the story of Joel and Ellie remains to be one of the best stories to be told in the interactive medium. While the remastered version is already considered a solid entry for the PS4, it looks like that isn’t enough for Sony.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Sony had secret plans to remake the first Last of Us game for the PS5, and had even assembled a team (lead by Michael Mumbauer) to develop what was dubbed the T1X project.

The project was apparently dubbed as too expensive to produce by PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst, and Mumbauer’s team was then moved to work on The Last of Us Part II. After TLOU2 was released though, T1X was said to have become a Naughty Dog project and the original team had since left the company. The remake is apparently still in the works.

Admittedly, a lot of people don’t see the point of a remake of a game that still holds up for the PS4 gen. The gameplay hasn’t even changed when it comes to Part II, so we shouldn’t expect anything much from a remake of the first game besides enhanced graphics.

Some think the story could be altered to compliment the upcoming HBO series, but so far, nothing has been confirmed.

Hopefully Sony manages to address this soon, because personally, I would prefer that they just greenlit Part III of the franchise. Going back to the original game feels like some kind of corporate decision to appease fans who hated Part II.

For now, you can check out The Last of Us parts I and II on the PlayStation 4|5.
