Of course, it’s still possible that this is a droid that isn’t 88, but just from the same IG series. Until someone confirms it, we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully by New Years, we can get another look at the characters in the series—maybe even get a small teaser for the show.

Though IG-88 is a feared bounty hunter in the canon of Star Wars, he pretty much just stood still in his few seconds of screentime in The Empire Strikes Back. Hopefully with this new show, we actually get to see the droid in action. What could be so special about him that Vader would hire him to track down the Millennium Falcon along with the likes of Bossk and Boba Fett?

We don’t know much about the plot of The Mandalorian, but we do know that it will focus on a lone gunman that hails from the famous warrior race with the iconic armor. Pedro Pascal is said to be playing the lead, but the cast also includes some big name actors like Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte, and Gina Carano.

Not to mention Taika Waititi is also attached to direct one episode and is said to be making a small cameo in the show.

Catch Star Wars: The Mandalorian on Disney’s streaming service sometime in 2019.
