Star Wars: The Mandalorian Could Feature Familiar Bounty Hunters

A lot of fans were expecting Star Wars: The Mandalorian to focus on characters like Boba or Jango Fett, but instead we’re met with a completely new character played by Pedro Pascal. Interestingly enough, the series is said to include some of Fett’s peers in the bounty hunter circles.

According to Making Star Wars, an in-canon collective called The Droid Gotra will have a presence in the series, and one member will be IG-88. Fans remember IG as the only robot in the roster of bounty hunters that Vader had gathered to search for the Millennium Falcon in Empire Strikes Back. Though he only stood still in the movie, the series is said to be having him in action, riding speeder bikes and hunting down enemies.

Speaking of hunting, a Trandoshan has also been spotted on set and he’s said to the most famous Trandoshan in Star Wars, Bossk. Bossk, along with IG, was also in that meeting with Vader, and if you’ve played Star Wars Battlefront II, you’ll know he’s a very capable hunter.

With the show said to be taking place five years after Return of the Jedi, it’s not really a surprise that characters like Bossk and IG-88 would make an appearance. I was just kind of hoping that Lucasfilm would have saved them for a bounty hunter ensemble movie that was said to be in the works. Then again, I’m happy to see them doing something next year.

Catch Star Wars: The Mandalorian when it debuts on Disney+ sometime next year.
