Star Wars: Kathleen Kennedy Updates on the Lando Series

A lot of Star Wars reveals came out last weekend, but some are still curious about the status of the Lando spinoff starring Donald Glover. While we haven’t had any promos or updates since it was announced, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy does provide us with a status report.

Talking to Total Film (via Star Wars News Net), Kennedy gave an update when it comes to recasting legacy characters to which she says:

“I never say never [with regard to recasting characters]. It’s certainly not something that we’re doing with any intention right now… We’re still talking about Lando with Donald Glover, for instance, but I don’t think we would intentionally just look back at some of the characters like Luke and Leia and whatnot and decide arbitrarily to do a story. There would have to be a really strong reason why… There’s always a future for Solo!”

We don’t know where a Lando series could go, but some fans have thought it would be perfect to build on the joke from Solo where Lando makes recordings of The Calrissian Chronicles. Maybe they can even have Billy Dee Williams return to narrate as old Lando and have Glover play the part of the young rogue.

Though Solo didn’t succeed as hoped, there has been a new appreciation for the film when it comes to the fanbase. Besides all the noise of the people who didn’t like The Last Jedi, fans have ultimately boiled down the huge failure of Solo came from the lack of marketing and the poorly placed release date between Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

No release date has been set for Lando, but you can catch Obi-Wan Kenobi now streaming on Disney+.
