As speculated on by the internet, Avengers: Endgame features a massive time jump of about five years, and we get to see the world move one post-Snap. Everyone came back by the end of the movie though, but after five years, some fans are asking why Peter Parker’s friend Ned is still in high school along with him.

The short answer is: Ned disappeared as well.

According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Endgame co-director Joe Russo had said:

“The reason Spider Man saw his friend again in high school at the end was simply because his friends were unfortunately also dusted like Spider Man was. Of course, there are people in his grade whom didn’t die and they are probably already in college.”

In the Far from Home trailer, we see that a lot of Peter’s friends from Homecoming are still in high school with him so I guess you can say that most of them were simply snapped out of existence as well. Maybe the film could feature some of Peter’s aged friends so the alibi at least has some meat to it. Either way, it would be as if the snap never happened at all.

While it looks like everything is back to normal in Far from Home, I kind of want to see how the world handles having lost half its population for five years. Surely not everything can just go back into place. I’m sure it’s going to take a lot of exposition though, so I have a feeling that the film is just going to pretend nothing happened and just have Peter enjoy his vacation in Europe.

That’s just my guess anyway.

Catch Spider-Man: Far from Home when it comes out July 2.
