Scarlet Witch isn’t necessarily the most memorable character in the MCU, but she definitely has had her moments in the comics. Elizabeth Olsen has said that she isn’t interested in doing a Scarlet Witch standalone movie, but she is up for the idea of doing Brian Michael Bendis’ House of M.
Talking to Metro UK, Olsen says:
“I would love to [do a standalone], and I would love it to be House Of M, which is a comic book series of The Vision and Scarlet Witch having a make-believe family. Then they [Vision and her family] have to tell her that she was make-believing the entire time, and she has a very traumatic experience and screams, and kills all the mutants – but that’s an X-Men story so we’d have to adjust the ending.”
To those unfamiliar with the storyline, House of M had the entire Marvel universe turned upside down by Scarlet Witch when she decided to bend reality and make the mutants the norm with the homo sapiens being the oppressed class. Add to that she gave every member of the Avengers what their hearts truly desired—what with Spider-Man ending up married to Gwen Stacy, Wolverine being head of SHIELD, and Captain America growing old with the times (just to name a few).
I’m all up for a House of M film, but I think it would be best if Marvel waited out on some of their characters to develop before they do this alternate reality; give time for Spider-Man to grow, as well as the new Fantastic Four and X-Men to establish themselves. Besides, I like the idea of Scarlet Witch somehow ending up as the unintentional ‘villain’ for once.
