After the underperformance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm has decided to put all of their other film projects on hold to solely focus on the release of Star Wars Episode IX. Details about the movie are still scarce, but it’s possible that the title has been leaked online.
According to Express (via WeGotThisCovered), multiple titles have been thrown around for the project, and one on the shortlist is Star Wars: The Order of Ren. Of course, this doesn’t mean that this will be the final title, but having it on the shortlist can give us a feel of what they want the movie to be. There’s also the fact that this is just a rumor and Order of Ren wasn’t even considered in the first place.
The Knights of Ren were teased way back in The Force Awakens, but were nowhere to be found come Last Jedi. It was considered for a while that the Knights would be the ones to fight Rey and Kylo in the throne room, but director Rian Johnson felt that he needed Snoke’s guards not to have an attachment of any sort with Kylo.
Though I think Order of Ren is fine, my personal favorite would be one that fans have come up with: The New Order. It’s a great title because it can work both ways—it can either be about Kylo Ren and his new way of running the First Order, or it could be about the change in the system after the First Order is defeated; it’s both ominous and uplifting—which I think is great.
Until we get an official reveal, all the fans can do is guess. What we do know is that Star Wars: Episode IX is slated for a release on Dec. 20, 2019.
