Rumor: Avengers 4 will Jump Forward 5 Years

Ever since Thanos snapped away half of the MCU, a lot of people have been waiting on the edge of their seats for Avengers 4. Now a new plot point has come out online, and it gives us an idea on where the movie starts when we get back on track.

According to insider @DanielRPK, Avengers 4 will feature a time jump of about five years. Of course, the actual source of this information can’t be divulged, but granted the track record of Daniel, it might as well be true. He did accurately report that Ava DuVernay was directing New Gods and Steven Spielberg was going to be directing something for the DCEU (Blackhawk).

Until we get any official announcement, we should just take this with a grain of salt, but as it stands, a five-year time jump seems the logical way to move forward.

When antagonists usually succeed, they’re plans are usually foiled moments afterward, but if we get the fast forward in the story, we actually get to watch our heroes wallow in their failure for some time. After all the hard work Thanos had to go through, it would be a shame (storywise) if everything would just fix itself by the end so easily.

This also lines up with set photos of Robert Downey Jr. who had been spotted with white hair. It would make sense since the event would have taken a toll on him, trying to undo whatever Thanos did. I bet he comes back to being an alcoholic; then again, what if he just spends the five years getting back to Earth from Titan? Hopefully he’s been doing something more useful with his time.

Avengers 4 is slated for a release on May 3, 2019.
