Robert Pattinson Admits to Lying to Christopher Nolan for His Batman Audition

Things have been looking up for Robert Pattinson career-wise. After landing a role in Tenet with Christopher Nolan, he had also landed the role of Bruce Wayne for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. What’s funny is, Pattinson had to lie to Nolan about working on the Batman film.

Talking to Irish Times, Pattinson admitted:

“It’s funny because Chris[Nolan] is so secretive about everything to do with his movies… And then I had to be really secretive about Batman stuff. So I had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test – I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said ‘it’s a family emergency’ he said: ‘You’re doing the Batman [audition], aren’t you?’”

I have to say, things have been looking up for Pattinson ever since Twilight ended. Though he was the teen heartthrob of the late 2000s, he has since moved on to work on much more artsy films like The Lighthouse. Now he’s starring as the next Batman and working with modern greats like Nolan. Hopefully the Twilight days don’t come back to haunt him when they decide to adapt the Edward Cullen-centric Midnight Sun.

For now, Pattinson is set to star in Tenet alongside John David Washington. We don’t know what his role is specifically (or what the movie even is about), but knowing Nolan, it’s going to be one hell of a cinematic experience. Let’s just hope the movie gets a release date within the year. If not, I’m fine with a 2021 release.

Tenet is currently looking at an Aug. 26 release, but it’s possible it could be pushed back in regards to the current state of the virus. The Batman is set to come out Oct. 1, 2021.
