We know that Zack Snyder can take a long time to tell his stories with 4-hour cuts for both Watchmen and Justice League, but now it’s been revealed that his upcoming Netflix movie, Rebel Moon, will actually come in two parts.
According to What’s On Netflix, the titles of Snyder’s Rebel Moon films are as follows:
Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire
Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver

It was said that the project had originally started out as a Star Wars pitch, but knowing just how strict Disney is with the IP, it was probably more appealing to Snyder to just carve out a franchise of his own.
What’s interesting is that there are a lot of callbacks to Star Wars when it comes to Rebel Moon, like the title itself being a reference to the line “That’s no moon,” spoken by Ben Kenobi. Even the title ‘Scargiver’ feels like it’s harkening to the name Skywalker; and it sounds even closer to George Lucas’ original name for the character—Starkiller.
Though it’s a shame that Snyder won’t be able to continue his DCEU (even as an alternate timeline like The Batman), it’s great that he was able to carve out his own corner on Netflix. Let’s just hope they’re not as tough on him as compared to other creatives who have issues with the company—just ask the strikers picketing for the WGA and SAG AFTRA.
Watch out for Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire when it comes to Netflix on Dec. 22. Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver is expected to hit the platform sometime in April of 2024.
