Obi-Wan Series Cancellation Rumors are FALSE

There has been a rumor going around last week that Disney has opted to cancel their upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series with Ewan McGregor coming out. The fanbase was sent aflame with the news, but as it turns out, it was all false.

Sources have told The Wrap that the rumor of the Obi-Wan series is false. This was just a story that has been up by the parody Twitter account @DicsussingFilm—a play at the more trusted source, @DiscussingFilm.

This was the post that got everyone upset:

With McGregor having been attached to the role for such a while, it wouldn’t have made sense for him to leave at this point. If anything, the Disney+ shows have been doing well, and everyone was excited for Obi-Wan. You’d think that if McGregor quit, it would have something to do with the poor reception of The Rise of Skywalker—forcing Lucasfilm to make some major changes with the Kenobi show.

I don’t know if anyone else agrees, but I was kind of hoping that they kept to the original plan and made Kenobi an anthology film. I always thought that spectacle was a huge part of Star Wars, and it just never seemed like The Mandalorian was able to deliver in that level. Hopefully with less episodes and a more tight narrative, the Kenobi series could be the spectacle that Mando sadly, was not.

No release date has been set for the Kenobi series, but you can catch The Mandalorian now on Disney+.
