The Terminator franchise had attempted to kickstart itself repeatedly with films like Terminator: Salvation and 2015’s Terminator: Genisys, but both films floundered in the box office. Now James Cameron has decided to take charge of Terminator again, and we now have our first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate.
We don’t have any official synopsis for the movie yet, but we do know that this will regard the previous three movies and will be a direct sequel to Cameron’s Terminator 2. By the looks of it, Skynet has sent another Terminator to the past to kill another ancestor of the resistance in the form of Natalia Reyes’ character, and Mackenzie Davis will be taking on the Kyle Reese role, only she’s probably a cyborg.
As for Gabriel Luna’s new Terminator, we don’t know exactly what his skill set is, but he looks to be nanotech just like the John Connor from Genisys. He doesn’t appear to be as liquid as the T-1000 though, and you got to love that black endoskeleton that he has underneath it all.
Hopefully with Dark Fate, Terminator can finally get back on its feet. As it stands, there are now more bad Terminator movies than good ones. Hopefully Deadpool director Tim Miller is up to the task.
Catch Terminator: Dark Fate when it comes out Nov. 1.
