Rumor had been going around that Daredevil/Matt Murdock would be appearing in the third Spider-Man movie, but so far, no official source has confirmed this. What’s interesting though is that things seem to be lining up to have Murdock re-introduced in the MCU.

As per ComicBook, Netflix is going to lose the rights to Daredevil this November, meaning Marvel can be free to put the character in new material now. With Spider-Man 3 underway, there is now nothing stopping the film from including Daredevil into the story.

Again, the introduction of Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 isn’t official, but it makes perfect sense. With Mysterio framing Peter Parker for his murder, Peter will need someone to defend him legally, especially since some people actually believe that he’s a murderer; and who better than blind attorney Matt Murdock?

While it’s possible Marvel would want to reboot the character, I think they can just do with bringing back Charlie Cox. He was a great Daredevil, and he also plays a great Matt Murdoc. Besides, they can just refer to the Marvel Netflix material as ‘loose canon’; they don’t have to adhere to it, but it gives us a nice backstory for characters without Marvel needing to build them up again from zero.

It’s still unclear if Marvel is ready to bring back Daredevil with Spider-Man 3, but a lot of people definitely want Spider-Man to start teaming up with more characters like in the comics. Fingers crossed this opens doors to Deadpool, Punisher, and Fantastic Four team-ups.

Spider-Man 3 is set to come out July 16, 2021.
