There have been rumors going around that the Wonder Woman sequel will feature an appearance from comic villain Cheetah, and it looks like WB has found an actress for the role.
According to Deadline, Kristen Wiig is currently in talks to play Cheetah in Patty Jenkins’ sequel. With Wiig in the role, I could imagine that she would be playing a comic relief character, but watching Wiig in mother! and The Martian prove that she could also pull off very serious roles.
Speculations have been going around that the main villain for the movie will actually be Circe, and with her affinity for turning people into animals, it would make sense that Cheetah will also be included in the film, most likely as one of Circe’s lackeys.
Of course, Cheetah could also be the main antagonist in the film, but counting her comic history, I think her character is more of a brawler as compared to being a full-on mastermind.
For now, Wiig is still said to be in talks, but I am actually eager to see her in the role. She’s already proven herself to be a versatile actress, and I would like to see what she could bring to the Wonder Woman sequel.
With the first Wonder Woman having Diana the sole woman in the main conflict, I would like to see some more women in the spotlight. Plus, if Circe is the main villain of the film, what better way to introduce another fan favorite magic user, Zatanna? Make it happen, Patty Jenkins!
Wonder Woman 2 is set for a release on Nov. 1, 2019.
