Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman Returns to Supergirl in Season Finale

Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman Returns to Supergirl in Season Finale

We haven’t seen or heard from Supergirl’s Superman since he left National City to return to Metropolis in Season 2’s second episode. For some reason, though, that will change in the upcoming season finale. According to E! Online, Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel will soon depart Metropolis once more.

At the time of writing, no details concerning his return are known. However, whatever he’s called in for, if he’s called in, must be pretty big. As we now know, they don’t bring out the big guy for nothing.

As Cadmus is still a threat and with Mon-El’s mother on the loose and out for blood, Kara’s going to certainly have her hands full in the coming weeks. But might another classic Superman villain bring Clark to town? He originally arrived to help keep a shuttle from crashing. And he stuck around once Metallo became an issue. Perhaps something of that villain’s caliber is on the horizon.

Also worth looking forward to is Clark and Kara’s reunion. Hoechlin and Melissa Benoist sell the family dynamic well, so here’s to hoping more of that will be on display. That in mind, there are also a issues that may need resolving. We know there’s still some Kryptonite in the wild, so Clark will no doubt have some words for J’onn. Additionally, at this juncture in the season, we haven’t been told whether James has been sharing information concerning his Guardian identity with his old friend. Because Supergirl made reference to a vigilante Superman’s worked with in the past, it’ll be interesting to see the Man of Steel’s stance on Guardian.

Superman’s return (sorry, had to) will also, hopefully, explore his thoughts on Mon-El, and by proxy Daxam. Since he wasn’t raised among Kryptonian custom, does he feel, or even understand, the disdain Kryptonians and Daxamites feel for one another? We may find out soon enough.

Supergirl will return from its month-long hiatus on Monday, April 24. The Season 2 finale will air in May.
