Though we may not know when the next Superman film comes out, Henry Cavill has always been adamant that he wants to stay in the role. With frequent clashing rumors coming out online though, Cavill has decided to air out his frustrations at the rumor mill.
Talking to Variety, Cavill was asked about the latest Superman rumors to which he replies:
“They get wilder and wilder by the day. The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating. It’s when you see people stating stuff as fact. Like, “No, that’s not the case. That hasn’t happened, and that conversation isn’t happening.”
Despite the constant clashing rumors, Cavill is looking at the more positive side of the issue. He continues:
…The important thing is that people are excited about it, and I think it’s important to be excited about a character like Superman. Superman is a fantastic character. If people are chatting about it, and even if they’re making stuff up, it’s okay, because that means they want to see the character again. And in an ideal world, I would absolutely love to play the character again.
As of now, we don’t know what the situation of Superman is, but we do know that he’s going to be making an appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League next year. Until we get some official update from WB, we’ll just really have to hold on to rumors that Cavill is ironing out a new Superman contract or J.J. Abrams is developing the next Superman solo movie. Fingers crossed this all gets put to rest with DC’s Fan Dome in August.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set for a release sometime in 2021 on HBO Max.
