There has been a lot of hype over the release of Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen, and the show is set to come out later this year. Fresh after Marvel releases their new trailer for Spider-Man: Far from Home, we now have a full teaser for HBO’s Watchmen.

Here’s the official description:

Created by Damon Lindelof, Watchmen is a modern-day reimagining of Alan Moore’s groundbreaking graphic novel about masked vigilantes. Starring Academy Award-winner Regina King, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Louis Gossett Jr.

Just in case you haven’t followed up on the news, this story will pick up several years after the original Alan Moore comic. That means Ozymandias’ Squid genocide definitely happened, and this is how the world turned out after he supposedly saved it from nuclear war.

With Watchmen being a product of its time, Lindelof is said to be aiming for the same feel for this series, only as a commentary for contemporary times. It’s interesting that we should get a series like this, seeing that superheroes and comic book movies have had such a huge impact in the mainstream.

This is just my personal observation, but I’m starting to think Damon Lindelof has a thing for cults. His previous show The Leftovers, also had a weird cult called the Guilty Remnant; and now with Watchmen he has a bunch of people in Rorschach masks supposedly trying to expose the truth about Ozymandias’ genocide (at least, that’s my guess).

Catch HBO’s Watchmen when it premieres this fall.
