Release Date: December 21, 2018

Director: James Wan

Screenwriter(s): Will Beall

Cast: Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko), Patrick Wilson (Orm/Ocean Master), Temuera Morrison (Thomas Curry), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Nicole Kidman (Queen Atlanna), and Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus).

Story: Warner Bros. has yet to release official plot details. However, it seems Black Manta will be the film’s main villain, while Ocean Master creates mischief of his own.

In the comics, Vulko is a scientist and ally of Aquaman’s, often acting in an advisory role to those sitting on the throne of Atlantis. Orm is Arthur Curry’s half-brother. His father was an Atlantean Wizard that Aquaman eventually finds out is his, as well. A power-struggle arises, as Orm returns to the Kingdom when Aquaman takes the throne, seeking to unseat his brother and take the role of King himself. It remains to be seen which, if any, iteration of the characters comic book arcs will be used.

Rumor and Speculation: With James Wan and Jason Momoa continuing to tout the film’s awesomeness, rumors have taken a bit of a backseat. But there’s is one piece of alleged information floating around. According to a synopsis of the film that leaked online (via Acting-Auditions), Aquaman will be cast as a “reluctant ruler of Atlantis.” His ascent to power sticks him in the middle of a feud between land-lovers polluting the world and Atlanteans ready to invade the Earth’s surface to deal with them.
