Elizabeth Banks has certainly risen from actress to director, and now she’s doing both jobs for the reboot of Charlie’s Angels. Sony has just released the first trailer for the movie, and we have a look at a new generation of kick-ass angels.

In Banks’ bold vision, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and the investigative agency has expanded internationally. With the world’s smartest, bravest, and most highly trained women all over the globe, there are now teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs everywhere.
Though I thought the early 2000s Angels were fun films, I can imagine they won’t fly with this current “woke” climate in Hollywood. With Banks in the directors’ chair, it’s interesting to see how these new Angels will come to life onscreen without the male-gaze that was so dominant in the past.
Then again, with this film establishing there are multiple groups of Angels with multiple Bosley’s handling them, I’m curious if we’re going to get a callback or even a cameo from the previous angels played by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore.
Heck, I’d be happy with a Bill Murray cameo.
