Ti West had given us a prequel to X with Mia Goth in Pearl, but now he’s ready to push the story forward again with the third film in the series MaXXXine. Goth is set to reprise the role of Mia again, and we have our first image of her in the movie alongside Halsey.

Besides Goth and Halsey, the movie has managed to gather a cast that includes Kevin Bacon, Lilly Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, Elizabeth Debicki, and Bobby Cannavale.
So far, the X movies have been very direct about their sexual themes, and after the release of Pearl, it’s possible we could be looking at Maxine falling down the same rabbit hole in her search for popularity. Though Pearl never got to achieve her dreams of stardom, we should expect Maxine to be able to get a closer reach at it, but since this is a horror/slasher franchise, I wouldn’t be surprised if Maxine starts to murder anyone who starts getting in her way.
Despite the raunchy surface, the X franchise has managed to deliver some very interesting character studies, and the first movie also had something to say about the horrors of aging and losing your youth. I don’t know how MaXXXine plans to bring everything full circle, but I am excited to see how Ti West plans to end this trilogy of slasher/porno films.

MaXXXine has no released date yet, but it’s possible we could get a release sometime later this year.
