After trying his hand at Transformers then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michael Bay is now turning his attention into adapting another beloved childhood figure, Dora the Explorer. Bay is working on a live-action movie, and now it looks like we have the first image of Isabela Moner in character online.

I’ll admit, I don’t know what kind of movie I would be walking into with Dora the Explorer. Usually you have a sense of what to expect with Bay’s Platinum Dunes banner, but just looking at Moner in costume, it looks like this film will be a lot more faithful to the cartoon than we thought.
Of course, the studio will probably give us more details as the release date draws nearer. I’m just curious how much of the show’s fantasy element will make it to the film. Will the animals be able to talk? Is that backpack alive? Will Dora speak to the audience while a cursor just appears and clicks things out from nowhere?
If anything, the studio must have real faith in the project to move forward with it. When it comes to Bay movie adaptations, I know a lot of the grown-up fans tend to hate them; but with this Dora movie, I think the main focus is on Dora’s intended audience—kids.
